Andrew, who is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, is the Principal Consultant and Director of Sutton Recruitment and is Canberra’s most experienced specialist Senior Accounting and Finance/Executive Recruitment Consultant.
Andrew Sutton has been in Canberra since 1977 when he attended Canberra Grammar School. Graduating to the University of Canberra, Andrew completed a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting before working in two of the now Big 4 Chartered Accounting firms Ernst & Young and Deloitte for a total of over 8 years. During this time Andrew worked in Assurance & Consulting working on both External and Internal Audit assignments as well as working on a numerous ad-hoc consulting assignments. Andrew left the profession in 1994 to become the Finance Manager for Austereo Canberra (incorporating FM104.7 and 2CA) for 18 months before becoming the General Manager, Finance and Administration of ACTTAB for just over 2 years.
Taking a career break in 1998, Andrew returned later in the year to join a local boutique recruiting company Green & Green establishing their Accounting and Finance Division. Andrew built this division continuously over 6 years before leaving to join Hays in 2005 as a Senior Consultant. Over the following 10 years, Andrew rose through the ranks of Business Manager and Senior Business Manager to become a Business Director in 2013.
Over the 10 and a half years with Hays, Andrew featured in the top 3 Accountancy and Finance permanent recruitment billers for the vast majority of these years including being recognised as the National top biller in 2012/13 and 2013/14.
In 2015, Andrew decided it was time to embark on his next challenge of his career to establish Sutton Recruitment. Andrew is passionate about Canberra and its unique environment.
He prides himself on building strong, extensive and long-term relationships/ partnerships with both clients and candidates as well as being a strong member of the Canberra Community through his volunteer work particularly in the not for profit and sporting fields.
Over his 20 years in recruitment, Andrew has developed these quality relationships that allow him to continue to offer and deliver only the highest quality of services that candidates and clients require as well as providing second to none quality advice and expertise.
